Oh, I am off friends. This morning I head out to Texas, specifically the very southern tippy tip of Texas where I will take part in the famous Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival, the biggest and, if the stories are to be believed, best birding festival of them all! Where else in the United States can one gaze upon the skunk-headed Kiskadee, hear the raucous song of the Chachalaca, gaze at the moon accompanied by Pauraque? And countless other non funky named birds…
I’ll be doing some stuff for the American Birding Association. Working on the blog, doing the Facebook, and seeing loads of great birds and great people besides. I’ve been to the Valley several times before, but never since I started this blog. Expect lots of exciting photos and stories of daring do. Fingers crossed for a big rarity, but I’d take anything. My Kiskadee quotient was getting dangerously low, it’ll be nice to fill up the tank once again.
Oh, and one more thing. To Triangle area birders, I declare a moratorium on finding any Triangle rarities until I come back next week. Thanks for your cooperation.
